Indexing Request Tool Returns in Google Search Console.

Indexing Request Tool Returns in Google Search Console.

For those of you familiar with Google Search Console, or for those oldies like me, that still refer to it as Webmaster Tools, there was a feature that you could use to submit one of your web pages to, that would ask Google to crawl and hopefully index the page.

This was a great tool if you write blog posts or release new products and want Google to come and crawl the pages quickly and hopefully get them indexed and bringing in traffic as soon as possible. Simply waiting for the search engines to come and crawl your content when search engines see fit, could mean you are left waiting quite some time and losing valuable traffic.

On the 14th of October Google actually disabled this tool to do some maintenance on the feature but it was left down for quite a while causing lots of frustration to many businesses wanting to use the tool.

Thankfully, right before Christmas on the 22nd of December 2020 Google gave us all a little treat by enabling the tool just in time to get those pages hopefully indexed in time for Christmas.

With the tool now back and working in Google Search Console, SEO’s and businesses can submit URL’s for indexing whenever they want. But remember, just because you use the tool to ‘ask’ Google to come and crawl your URL, it doesn’t mean they will always index your URL.

If you need help with your SEO in Cornwall then feel free to drop me a line and we can discuss your requirements, with or without the geeky language, but definitely with a cuppa and a biscuit.
